Tile Guide

If you are looking for new flooring your kitchen or bathroom, look no further than us. Tile is a very versatile product when it comes to style as well as application. We at Cluff Carpet One Floor & Home in Waterford, CT are excited to offer you a quality selection of tile. We carry tile flooring options in addition to wall tile and even tile you can install outside.

Tile is made from natural materials such as clay and sand, so they are considered a "green" product. So, not only are tile floors durable and long-lasting they are also a great solution for the environmentally conscious homeowner.

Below, Jim Aaron explains how to choose the perfect tile for your home.

Types of Tile

We offer three main types of tiles including: ceramic, porcelain, and stone.

Ceramic and porcelain are two of the most popular. They are both made of the same materials, but porcelain is baked at a much high temperature, making it denser than ceramic and more resistant to moisture. Both are perfect options for kitchens and bathrooms alike because they are durable, easy to clean, and come in a variety of styles and colors to choose from.

Stone is a natural option we also offer. Stone tile is cut from slabs and quarried from different locations so not all are alike, giving you the option to have a truly custom floor in your home. Stone may come at a higher price but with the right sealer it will last a long time.

Wood Look Tile

Wood look tile has become extremely popular in home settings. As the name implies, wood look tile looks and often feels like real wood, but it features a genuine tile construction. So, wood look tile can handle heat and moisture, and it is easy to maintain. Plus, wood look tile can be installed on walls and backsplashes. Wood look tile is perfect for those who want to add the natural style of wood to kitchens and bathrooms.

Tile Installation

Depending on the room you plan on installing tile in can determine the type of tile you need. For example if you want tile in an entry way, opt for something that is dense and can handle frequent foot traffic. Any tile option works well for your floors, but when it comes to tile on your walls you want to choose either a ceramic option or a tile that is specifically meant for walls.

Tiles are usually difficult to install, but fortunately we work with teams of skilled installers who can handle any and every project. We’ll work with you to choose the right grouts and glazes, and we’ll be sure that the end result is exactly what you had in mind.

Our Tile Selection

As part of our tile selection, we offer a few of the most popular brands in the industry as well as Carpet One Floor & Home exclusive brands, such as Bel Terra™, you cannot find anywhere else.
